Brief Summary

 

2 Large Spaces for Latihan
Latihan will held in two separate locations. One location is in the main Convention Hall, in sections A and B of the Hall. This will be a total of 1243 m2 . The second location is both in section C of the Convention Hall, and also in the Limes room. This second location has a total of 1178 m2 (in two areas, close to one another).

Plenary Sessions
Plenary sessions will be held in either the large Town Hall which seats a total of 2600 people. Or, alternatively in the James Hay Theatre which seats 1000 people.

Smaller Space for WSA Delegate Meetings
Smaller meetings can be held in the breakout rooms, directly above the convention centre. These seven rooms have spaces of between 44 m2 and 89 m2.

Forty Plus Meeting Spaces
A total of 51 rooms are listed in the current proposal with a detailed list of the rooms on a later page. This amount can be easily, and inexpensively increased by utilizing more classrooms in the Cathedral Grammar School for smaller meetings. Should more additional large rooms be required, the available ones are also listed on a different later page.

Spaces for Large Cultural Events
The are two large spaces for Cultural Events. The Town Hall has a capacity in excess of 2600 people. Smaller cultural events can be held in the James Hay Theatre, immediately opposite the Town Hall in the same building. In addition to the performance spaces, there are also smaller rehersal rooms adjacent to the large spaces. There are 6 practice rooms behind the Town Hall Stage, and the Green Room is behind the stage of the James Hay Theatre.

Reception and Office Spaces
In the Convention Centre, there is a reception area at the entrance. Upstairs, there is a smaller space for a working office.

Translation and Equipment
The Town Hall has been used by the United Nations for international conferences before. To handle translation, separate booths are temporarily constructed for the translators. The equipment is to be hired.

Space for Exhibitions and Bazaar
In the Convention Centre and the Town Hall, there is a foyer area which is suitable for exhibitions and a bazaar.

Provisions and Space for Children
Two blocks away from the Convention Centre is the location of Cathedral Grammar School. This is to be used for the children. Children from age 6 to 14 will utilize the classroom areas, the art areas, the music room, and the outdoor play spaces. Children between 2 and 5 will be looked after in the Creche area, under the responsibility of Professional staff of the school.

Provisions, Activities and Space for Young People
For Subud Youth, there is space in the Caledonian Hall which is located 1 block east of the Convention Centre. This is to be utilized as a meeting space in between meals, and into the night. There are playing fields for sports in Hagley Park, other activities will be planned prior to 2010.

Access to Internet
Inside the Convention Centre, there are direct broadband internet connections. These will be utilized to establish a computer area.

Open Spaces, Activity Spaces
Immediately outside the Convention Centre is Victoria Park. Should much large spaces be needed, two blocks to the west of the Convention Centre is Hagley Park which has both sports playing fields, as well as large open areas.

Medical and Other Rest Facilities
A hospital is located about 1 km. away from the Convention Centre. A 24 hour Emergency Clinic is also located nearby. A room can be hired in the Crowne Plaza to be utilized for a Medical Area also.

Ibu Rahayu Space
There are a number of quiet secluded spaces which can be used for Ibu Rahayu. It could be a suite in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, other nearby hotels, or in a private members home as she wishes.
Hotels and Accomodation, Parking
Ample hotel space is available in downtown Christchurch. Almost all of these is within an easy walk from the Convention Centre. There is also a free inner city shuttle which allows people easier transport back to their hotel.

Food and Dining Area
There are four primary areas for eating. Inside the Town Hall, within the Limes Room, secondly at the Caledonian Hall one block away. A third location is in the Civic Centre which is a 6-8 minute walk away. A fourth, more informal location is immediately outside the Town Hall in Victoria Park. There will be Food Vendors outside for people to choose from. The Caledonian seats 250 people in one sitting, the Civic Centre seats 400 people in one sitting. In the Limes Room, 300 people can be seated at one time. There will be two sittings at each location to allow time for everyone to eat.

Transport to and from Congress
All hotels and food areas are within easy walking distance, at most a 10 minute walk. There is also a free inner city shuttle, which stops immediately outside the Town Hall.

Visas
Visitors from most countries can enter without a visa. From those countries which are required to have a visa, there is an easy procedure. The individual write to the nearest New Zealand Embassy to obtain a Special Purpose Visa to attend the Congress.

Medical Provisions and Insurance
There is a government ACC Insurance, Accident Compensation Coverage which covers visitors who have an accident. For medical emergencies, individuals should carry their own travel insurance.

Local Tourist Attractions
New Zealand's South Island attracts tourists from over the entire world to see the beautiful and varied natural areas.

Interaction with the Public
Should we choose, concerts can be made available to the Public in either the Town Hall or the James Hay Theatre. Also, a Public Affairs spokesperson will be appointed.
